Participant information
Everything you need to know about the Brighton Marathon.
The Start Line for the Brighton Marathon is located in Preston Park.
Once in Preston Park, you will be called into the Athlete Only Area, according to the colour on your bib number and Start Wave. Please note: while supporters are welcome to join you in Preston Park, they are not permitted into the Athlete Only Area.
You must arrive at your allocated arrival time, which corresponds to your bib number and wave colour, and is based on your predicted finish time.
You will be given a reusable, clear, drawstring kitbag in your Event Pack, which will keep your belongings clean and dry to collect at the Finish. Make sure you attach your baggage label to the kitbag. The kitbag is made from sugarcane and is recyclable with other plastic bags. Your kitbag will be 55cm by 45cm, big enough for a pair of shoes and change of clothes. If using the kitbag drop, you must put your belongings in the kitbag provided.
Important: Event Packs are not available to collect on Event Day.
Your Event Pack, containing your bib number, kitbag and your baggage label, should arrive in the post by Tuesday 2 April. If you haven’t received your pack by that date, please email us your full name, postal address and date of birth.
If you do not receive a replacement pack before Event Day, you will need to collect it on Saturday 6 April – full details below.
International participants and undelivered UK packs:
If you live outside of the UK, or are a UK resident whose Event Pack has not arrived, you’ll need to collect it from the Information Point at Preston Park between 10:00 and 18:00 on Saturday 6 April.
If you are unable to attend Preston Park on Saturday, you can arrange for someone else to collect your pack. Please ensure they have a copy of your ID or your confirmation email.
Please note: anyone moving at a pace that would see them complete the marathon after 17:50 (seven hours after the final wave begins), will be asked to move onto the pavement.
The course features Brighton's stunning seafront and the city's most famous and spectacular landmarks!
Pacers
There are pacers in every wave to guide you to the Finish Line! They are easy to spot as they will be wearing a flag showing their pace time. They will be setting pace from 3:00 to 7:00 - full details below.
Please make sure you plan your travel and accommodation well in advance so that you are ready for Event Day, as the city gets very busy over the Brighton Marathon Weekend.
With road closures in place across the city from 06:00, it's important to plan how you will get to the Start on time.
If you're looking for accommodation, why not check out our partner DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole? Situated right by the Finish Line, the hotel is perfect for participants and spectators alike.
