The Grounded Events Company (GEC), organisers of Brighton Marathon Weekend are delighted to announce that they will be supporting the ‘Save Madeira Terrace’ fund.
Brighton’s iconic Madeira Terrace based on Madeira Drive is where over 15,000 Brighton Marathon and BM10k participants finish their fantastic challenge each year in front of over 150,000 friends, family and the local community who flock to the terraces and the event’s beachfront ‘Event Village’ to cheer them on.
As an integral part of the Brighton Marathon Weekend and many other important events in the city, GEC care passionately about this historic location and wish to support the council in its mammoth restoration project.
GEC have pledged to donate a sum of £8,000 to the restoration fund.
Event Director, Tom Naylor says, “The iconic and beautiful Madeira Terrace is a hugely important part of the Brighton Marathon Weekend, accommodating thousands of participants and their supporters each year. It is also an important part of the city’s history and it is incredibly sad to have witnessed its decline over the years. We are proud to support this project for our runners and the local community, so that they may continue to enjoy it for many years to come.”
The company will also be encouraging this year’s runners and audience to support the fund. The crowdfunding campaign still needs to raise more before the deadline of 30th November 2017.
