I had an entry for the Mini Mile Races 2020, what happens now?

We are working to see what our options are regarding staging a youth event in Autumn as part of the revised Brighton Marathon Weekend event. We will be in contact mid-August with further information regarding this. You are not able to defer your Mini Mile entry to the 2021 Brighton Marathon Weekend. However, we will give you first opportunity to sign up for 2021 when entries open

I had an entry for the 2020 BM Ride - is it cancelled?

We are sorry to confirm that the BM Ride has been cancelled for 2020 and a cycling event will not be included as part of the revised Brighton Marathon Weekend event that we are planning for this autumn. We will be in contact mid-August with further information regarding your options. Please be assured that a place in the 2021 BM Ride is guaranteed for all 2020 registrants as part of these options.

I had a Brighton Marathon 2020 entry, what are my options now?

We will be in contact with all of our participants mid-August to inform them of their options and the relevant processes. If you had a Brighton Marathon, BM10k or BM Ride place for the September 2020 event then please be assured that your place is safe, and among a range of other options a place in the 2021 Brighton Marathon Weekend is guaranteed for all 2020 registrants as part of these. The full range of options will be made available by mid-August.

I had a BM10k 2020 entry, what are my options now?

Why isn't the Brighton Marathon Weekend going ahead in September 2020?

Despite our best efforts to find a way forward, unfortunately we are not able to hold the September 2020 Brighton Marathon Weekend as we had hoped and planned.

Please be assured that this is not a decision we have taken lightly.

The key influencing factors for this decision are:

  1. Brighton Marathon is always incredibly well supported, creating sizeable crowds who watch our runners pass through Brighton's city centre, the large residential area in Hove and past all of our city's major tourist attractions. We believe that social distancing city-wide will be extremely difficult for us to implement and manage for such a large crowd.
  2. Brighton & Hove is also a relatively small city in comparison to the size of our marathon, with one main hospital, which is the A&E for a large proportion of the Sussex area. The effect that our marathon runners and crowds could have on our local NHS services will potentially be too great during these difficult times. In addition, our Medical Team volunteers are all local NHS workers who are already incredibly stretched because of their COVID-19 work.

We are working on a revised event this autumn, which our 2020 participants will be invited to. Please read the full statement here: https://www.brightonmarathonweekend.co.uk/2020-event-alteration-notice/
